Caring for North America's Birds
At the Avian Rehabilitation Centre, we are dedicated to providing advanced medical care and rehabilitation for injured and orphaned birds native to North America.

Our Mission
About Us
The Avian Rehabilitation Clinic is a volunteer rehabilitation centre located in Sarnia, ON. We are authorized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Canadian Wildlife Service to provide treatment and rehabilitation to native bird species. Erica has a been involved in wildlife rehabilitation since 2007. She graduated as a Veterinary Technician in 2013 and later went back to school for Nursing.
We love nature!
Biodiversity is essential to healthy ecosystems. The conservation of native habitats is crucial to support the earth and all of it's inhabitants. The Avian Rehabilitation Clinic is proud to also be home to Golden Alexanders Native Plant Nursery which is a native plant nursery providing herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees native to the Carolinian Zone. Visit goldenalexanders.ca for more information.
How can you help?
Our work is volunteer based and runs on donations from the public. You can help by donating food, medical supplies or monetary donations. If you have any specialized skills (carpentry/electrical) and are looking to volunteer, please reach out as we may have upcoming projects and could use your help!
What species do you treat?
We specialize in the rehabilitation of various North American bird species, including raptors, songbirds, and waterfowl. All of our work is volunteer. Due to the small scale nature of our centre, the Avian Rehabilitation Clinic has limited capacity and can only provide care for certain species and limited numbers of birds depending on the time of year, the current patients in care and the severity of their needs. We regularly network with larger rehabilitation centres and transfer patients requiring specialized care or larger flight cages for further strengthening and conditioning.
What should I do if I find an injured bird?
If you find an injured bird, please contact a local wildlife rehabilitation center for assistance. Ontariowildliferescue.ca has a list of wildlife rehabilitation centres in Ontario and they species they care for.
