Critical Northern Flicker

A Northern Flicker was admitted in critical condition

Northern Flicker

This Northern Flicker was in critical condition upon admission. We were unable to find any obvious injuries but he was very weak, dehydrated and emaciated upon examination. While in care, he received fluid therapy, warmth and a quiet place to rest. Nutrition was gradually introduced and over the next several days and the flicker began to show signs of improvement. He eventually began to self feed and was gaining weight daily. He evenutally graduated to an outdoor enclosure where he continued to make progress. He made a full recovery and was released back where found.
